Ahhhh… This sucks, it really does!! I have panic attacks also. When I feel one coming on I try to slow down my breathing and try to relax; sometimes I have to go into another room, away from EVERYONE
Another thing that helps, along with the other stuff, is to turn on some calm music and try to concentrate on that. I hope this works for you, and good luck!

I started taking a non narcotic drug that my psychiatrist and I both take for PTSD called Cyproheptadine. Cyproheptadine removes the emotional attachment from a memory, which is the cause of a panic attack in the first place. My psyciatrist explained that a panic attack is an attack of the subconcious on the concious mind. It happens instantaneously, which is why panic attacks come on so suddenly. Ask your doctor of psychiatrist about this drug and I hope that it would help you as much as it’s helped me.

you might want to speak to a psycologist or doctor to help you cope with this as you might not be able to control this yourself (no offense).

My sister had panic attacks but now she takes medicine I think twice a day or maybe just right before bed and now she almost never has panic attacks anymore. I don’t know if you are already on any medicine but sometimes certain medicines don’t work as good for some people and they have to try a different one. Just to let you know she takes zoloft and that worked great for her but like I said everybody’s different.

If you know how to control them, then I believe it is just a matter of practise. My doctor advised me to visualise where in my body I first feel the panic starting, so that you can catch them early. It sounds daft, but if you think about it, you do get warning signs, before you go into full blown panic attack.
Mine start with an empty feeling in my stomach and rises to pain in my chest, but I think everyone feels it differently.
Calms help, as does Rescue Remedy but do not cure.

dont know much about them, as I am the calmest person ever, i dont have phobias, or anything, comes down to being a kid and some times dreaming being burried alive and then waking up having breathing problems and my eyes full of gunk so i could not open them… i guess then i realised if I paniced i would do more harm then good…
my sister is scared of small spaces and gets panic attacks when she doesnt feel like she can get out. now i know she tells us that she all of a sudden gets them, and even tries not to think about it, but yet she tells people before she gets on a plane to keep talking to her to get her mind of it hence bringing focus to it…
I had a stupid thing once though, which was not being able to pee at a urinal, just the thought of some one else maybe looking etc even though I said to my self it was silly and sometimes id be busting but could not go… i think because I thought about it, and even though i was telling my self it was silly, i kept focus on it… what you have to do is blank it out completely and focus on something else… like a great dream… something you want to achieve etc… try that… instead of subcontiously thinking about it. have a look at the video ‘the secret’ good luck! just drink more water, also helps with a lot of stuff, dont start pill poping!

I used to suffer from panic attacks but I never once had any indication that one was about to occur until I learned to recognise what it was generally that triggered them. It’s different for everyone of course but sometimes all I had to do was read a line in a book or see a picture of someone in the situation that I considered would cause me anxiety and I’d suddenly imagine myself right there and an attack would ensue. I was told to write down what I was doing immediately before the attack and a possible reason why I panicked, which over a few weeks developed a pattern. Some attacks appeared to be just random but there was a common "theme" in the majority, which gave me the opportunity to target that scenario and use the techniques I learned for controlling my attacks in developing a calmer attitude towards certain situations. I still get a little bit anxious in certain situations but it soon passes and doesn’t become a full blown attack.
I hope this helped a bit. I wish you and anyone who suffers from it the very best of luck in controlling this horrible condition.

Meditation can really help and body scans…. Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn has written books and produced CD’s available from Amazon that may well help…. Mindfulness, meditation and body scans aren’t quick cures but if you are looking for long term help then they are skills worth gaining… in fact for all sorts of situations in life they will prove helpful.
I also took medication for panic attacks and it certainly proved helpful in the short term… but I wanted a longer term solution that would get to the root of the problem rather than just the symptoms. You can sample meditation online with Wildmind and there are lots of sites where you can download sample meditations to see if you find it comfortable.
Body scans are a nice introduction to meditation until you learn to be able to still your mind a little more.

hi, i fully understand your feeling b cos i have generalised anxiety disorder together with panic attacks for almost 5 years. My first panic attacks happened when i was on a train. It came for no reason. Since then, I felt very nervous when i was taking train alone because i worried so much the attacks would happen again. That worry, as explained by my doctor, would really trigger the panic attacks to happen.
Think of the places, backgound, or people when you have the attacks. Did they have anything in common? For my personal experience, a very noisy place would seem to trigger the attacks. When I have the very first sympton coming up, like when my mind start feeling uncomfortable, I will immediately take Xanax to stop it happening. according to my doctor, xanax is fast but it cant cure the problem, thats why i am also on a meds called Xeroxat everyday. With xeroxat, times for my panic attacks decreases significantly.
Please check with you doctor, i am sure there must be something they can do. Take care!

Start your day with a Cannabis Muffin, and have another for lunch,
This way the THC etc will be slowely released into your body
over the course of the day. This will keep you on a upward beat and remove the panic state.
My friends mum got panic attacks bless her, made her smoke 60 cigarettes a day!!, shes totally anti-cannabis, but we used to make the cakes etc and told her to start the day with a cuppa and the cake (not telling her it was Cannabis) and just switch off for the 5 mins of sippin the Tea and eating the cake.
It worked wonders, and now shes been told what it was, shes extremly pro cannabis, has dramtically cut down on her cigarette smoking and still has the cakes. Although she doesnt like the idea of smoking a joint, she loves baking her cakes!!!
